Thought for the Day #27
Conscience is part of consciousness
Thought for the Day #21
To be needed brings purpose
To be wanted brings respect
To be admired brings satisfaction
To be loved brings meaning
Thought for the Day #20
Growing old is simple;
Just take it one day at a time
Thought for the Day #17
Happiness isn’t just ‘out there’ to be had.
You have to make your own.
Thought for the Day #12
A soul is weightless; few consciences are
Thought for the Day #8
A child who thinks of itself as useless has been taught to do so.
A Proud Toast
How do you hold a ray of light?
Like some precious gem kept locked up tight?
Or by setting it free to brighten the way?
Mum and I have done this last today
R…… embodies our hopes and dreams
Those who love her know she is more than she seems
A matchless soul with a bottomless heart
A courageous spirit she’s had from the start
In G….. she’s found such an awesome mate
And his family too are simply first rate
Now formally joined, a pair stronger than ever
With love, luck and care may they prosper together
So please raise a glass to the newly wed pair
I give you G….. and R…… , sitting just there!
INSIGHT
Time fades the clarity of young sight
Form and colours, once clear and bright
Now cloudy shapes through opaque lenses
Only real through different senses
But there is yet a way to see
Unlocking memories, like a key
Those who look within the mind
Can access images of every kind
For age improves the inner eye
Which knows the beauty of days gone by
Recalling scenes of timeless splendour
Precious moments to engender
Sun kissed seas of sapphire blues
Northern lights’ ephemeral hues
Distant horizons glowing red
Thunderous storm-skies shaded lead
Mists rising in dawn’s early light
Silver-rimmed clouds scudding in flight
Diamond sparkling rainbow dew
Dappled rays shaded canopies through
Countless twinkling stars above
A glint in the eyes of one you love
Shimmering heat haze under the sun
A smile on the lips of anyone
Early Onset
What reason brings me here just now
If thought’s involved I know not how
What’s the date? it’s hard to try
Deep inside, I wonder why
This visitor is strange to me
But seems to know my history
What was for lunch? I can’t recall
And earlier’s not there at all
